About Me
Personal Profile
With a history as a high-level hammer thrower and classical training as a chiropractor, I began to study manual osteopathic techniques*in 2012. It changed the way I saw the human body. It changed the way I treated my patients. Simply put, it changed the course of my life.
Introduced to the concepts of complexity, bio-tensegrity, relational anatomy and the physiological importance of connective tissue, I embraced this new biology and its possibilities and profound results.
In the late 1990's I had the privilege to share a considerable amount of time with Dan Pfaff, one of Americas greatest high-performance coaches. I first spent time with Dan as an athlete and then as an apprentice coach.
During my time with coach Pfaff, I learned the basics of movement analysis and was present during the beginnings of the Performance Therapy paradigm he developed that is currently permeating the highest levels of sports.
Through my osteopathic teachers and Pfaff, I've had mentors who are first humanists at heart and revolutionary thinkers at their foundations. I've been molded into someone who is constantly seeking new ideas and refining established ones to better serve the patient so that they may reach whatever goals that they may have.
I hold a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and a certification in neuro-functional acupuncture from McMaster University. I've completed Guy Voyer's Soma-Therapy and Pelviology Diplomas. I've achieved the level of certified ELDOA trainer and have spent time as an instructor for Voyer teaching ELDOA and therapy. I've also studied extensively in Voyer's Soma-Training program. In 2018, I participated in a master class in biotensegrity at the home of Stephen Levin, MD- the father of biotensegrity. The master class was one of the high points of my carrer.
Currently, I'm studying with Eric Sanderson, DO at the Ontario Academy of Progressive Osteopathy and Lino Cedros, AT, OMT. I'm also pursuing a diplomate in functional neurology with the Carrick Institue of Clinical Neuroscience and Rehabilitation.
I have also had the honor of contributing to Susan Lowell de Solóranzo's upcoming book on biotensegrity- Everything Moves: How Biotensegrity Informs Human Movement.
I currently live in Bloomington, IN and treat and consult with, study, and teach this new biology through my auxetic exercise and manual therapy techniques and Pfaff's techniques and methods.
* Disclaimer: Although I study and employ manual osteopathic techniques in my practice I AM NOT nor do I claim to be an osteopath, osteopathic physician or a DO.
What I Do
In this section, you will find information about my different products and services
Manual Therapy and Rehabilitation
I consult with and treat patients at The Evolutions Institute of SOMA Instruction in Bloomington, IN. I am also available for private consultations for out of town patients or I can come to your location.
Auxetic Normalization Therapy and Exercise Courses
Through the techniques I've studied in my career, I've found that the Auxetic behavior of fascia is a fundamental route in which manual therapy techniques are successful. I teach manual therapy and exercise through the lens of "Auxetic Normalization"
I regularly host these Auxetic Normalization courses in my Bloomington, IN clinic which is specifically designed for the courses. I can also travel to your location to teach the courses.
Visit this site often for my current course offerings or contact us to schedule courses at your location.
Applications of the new biology in treatment and rehabilitation.
One of my particular areas of interest is how emerging concepts in all areas of biology impact how "complementary and alternative" approaches to healing, health and wellness are understood and applied.
I love to speak on how the concepts of complexity theory, bio-tensegrity, auxetics and the physiological relevance of fascia and connective tissue affect our longevity and vitality.
Contact me to schedule a talk about the new biology to your clinic or group.
My Philosophy on Health, Wellness and Vitaltiy
OUR BODY IS ADAPTIVE. IT HAS THE ABILITY TO APPLY AND MANGE COMPLEX AND WIDELY VARYING FUNCTIONS IN EVER-CHANGING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS.
WHEN THE BODY OPERATES CLOSE TO ITS MAXIMUM ADAPTIVE CAPABILITIES, WE ARE ABLE TO EXPRESS OPTIMAL VITALITY AND ACHIEVE A HIGH QUALITY OF HEALTH.
I RECOGNIZE THAT THE BODY POSSESSES MANY ADAPTIVE MECHANISMS TO MANAGE VARYING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS. ALL OF THESE STRATEGIES ARE EFFECTIVE IN SUSTAINING LIFE. HOWEVER, NOT ALL STRATEGIES ACKNOWLEDGE OR RESPECT THE BODY’S COMPLEX SYSTEM OF BIOTENSEGRITY, WHICH CAN LEAD TO COMPROMISED STRUCTURES, DYSFUNCTION AND PAIN.
I BELIEVE THAT MANUAL TREATMENT AND THERAPEUTIC EXERCISE APPLIED WITHIN THE PARADIGM OF BIOTENSEGRITY MAXIMIZES THE BODY’S ADAPTIVE CAPACITY, LEADING TO LONGEVITY, SUPERIOR VITALITY, AND A HIGH QUALITY OF HEALTH AND WELL-BEING.
